The Miracle That George Washington Never Forgot – And Neither Should We
ONE OF THE MOST PROFOUND MIRACLES IN OUR AMERICAN HISTORY HAPPENED TO GEORGE WASHINGTON HIMSELF WHEN HE WAS JUST A YOUNG OFFICER FIGHTING IN THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR.
IN ONE BATTLE, WASHINGTON’S JOB WAS TO RIDE BACK AND FORTH ACROSS THE BATTLEFIELD, DELIVERING TO THE TROOPS THE ORDERS FROM THEIR COMMANDER, GENERAL BRADDOCK.
IN THE BATTLE, THE BRITISH TROOPS WERE BEING ANNHIALATED AND EVERY OTHER OFFICER ON HORSEBACK WAS SHOT DOWN.
EVEN GENERAL BRADDOCK WAS KILLED.
BUT GEORGE WASHINGTON, A BIG MAN, A BIG TARGET ON HORSEBACK, AMAZINGLY, WAS NEVER WOUNDED.
BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS SO AMAZING, THAT AFTER THE BATTLE GEORGE WASHINGTON WROTE THESE WORDS TO HIS BROTHER:
“I HAD FOUR BULLETS THROUGH MY COAT, AND TWO HORSES SHOTFROM UNDER ME –
YET I ESCAPED UNHURT ALTHOUGH DEATH WASLEVELING MY COMPANIONS ON EVERY SIDE.
BUT, BY THE ALLPOWERFUL DISPENSATIONS OF PROVIDENCE,
I HAVE BEENPROTECTED BEYOND ALL HUMAN PROBABILITIES.”
IT WAS CLEAR TO GEORGE WASHINGTON THAT HE HAD BEEN SAVED FROM INJURY BY ALMIGHT GOD – IT WAS TRULY A MIRACLE.
AND GEORGE WASHINGTON WASN’T THE ONLY ONE WHO KNEW THE STORY.
FIFTEEN YEARS LATER, AS WASHINGTON WAS TRAVELING WITH A FRIEND THROUGH THAT SAME AREA WHERE THE BATTLE HAD BEEN FOUGHT, TWO NATIVE BRAVE TOLD GEORGE WASHINGTON THAT THEIR CHIEF WANTED TO MEET HIM.
WHEN THEY MET, THE OLD NATIVE CHIEF TOLD GEORGE WASHINGTON A TRULY AMAZING STORY.
HE SAID ON THAT BATTLEFIELD THAT DAY, HE WAS THE LEADER OF THE NATIVE WARRIORS. AND HE SAID THAT DURING THE BATTLE AS HE SAW WASHINGTON CROSSING THE BATTLEFIELD, FULLY EXPOSED, HE SAID:
“QUICK, LET YOUR AIM TO CERTAIN, AND HE DIES.”
OUR RIFLES WERE LEVELED, RIFLES WHICH, BUT FOR YOU, KNEW NOT HOW TO MISS –
BUT IT WAS ALL IN VAIN – A POWER FAR MIGHTIER THAN WE – SHIELDED YOU.
SEEING THAT YOU WERE UNDER THE SPECIAL GUARDIANSHIP OF THE GREAT SPIRIT, I ORDERED ALL TO IMMEDIATELY CEASED TO FIRE AT YOU”.
THEN THE OLD CHIEF SAID SOMETHING TO GEORGE WASHINGTON THAT WAS QUITE PROPHETIC.
“SOMEDAY YOU WILL BECOME THE CHIEF OF NATIONS, AND A PEOPLE YET UNBORN WILL HAIL YOU AS THE FOUNDER OF A MIGHTY EMPIRE.”
THAT DAY GOD PERFORMED A MIRACLE IN GEORGE WASHINGTON’S LIFE.
GEORGE WASHINGTON KNEW IT AND HE NEVER FORGOT.
ARE THERE SUCH MIRACLES IN YOUR LIFE?
DO YOU REMEMBER?
About Jerry Stewart
I am a story teller. Since 1998, I have been telling the true stories of our nation and those Americans gone before us. To say the least, these stories have been well received by Americans, both young and old. So, here’s where the stories have taken me. In 1998, I was broadcasting my stories on just one radio station in Washington State. Today, from Texas 15 years later, these programs are now broadcast through a syndicated radio network to over 400 radio stations all across America, with literally millions of listeners.
“Many men fail because they quit too soon. They lose faith when the signs are against them. They do not have the courage to hold on, to keep fighting in spite of that which seems insurmountable. If more of us would strike out and attempt the impossible, we very soon would find the truth of that old saying – nothing is impossible”.
Doctor C.E. Welch, Founder of Welch's Grape Juice
“Never let yourself be persuaded that any one great man, any one leader, is necessary to the salvation of America; when America consists of one leader and 250 million followers, it will no longer be America.”
President Dwight Eisenhower
“The philosophy of our school room in one generation will be the philosophy of the government in the next.”
“What we obtain for too cheap a price, we esteem too lightly.”
“The spirit of this city and this nation will not be defeated because our deeply rooted faith will sustain us”.

“Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation. For tis better to be alone than in bad company.”
George Washington (Written as a Boy)
“Son, remember that God is your only sure trust.”
George Washington’s Mother
“America is great because America is good. And if America ever ceases to be good, it will cease to be great.”
French Philosopher, Alexis De Tocqueville 1840
“I regret i have but one life to lose for my country.”
Nathan Hale, just before he was hanged by the British army
“You cannot lift your children to a higher level than that on which you live yourself.”
“Duty, honor, country. These three hallowed words reverently dictate what a soldier ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are the soldier’s rallying post to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when all hope is gone. Duty…honor…country.”
